Pictures!!!!

Time to catch up!

Well, it has been way to long and I apologize for not posting...I guess I got lazy! Carter has accomplished so much since I last posted. He is eating on his own and almost home.
At the last weigh in he was weighing in at 4 lbs 8.8oz!!!!! He actually has a double chin:)
He is eating all of his feeds by mouth which is a huge feat for such a little man...he nurses twice a day and takes his bottle the other days.
They have attempted taking him out of his isolete twice in the last 2 weeks and he has failed this test twice. We were almost home this past weekend but he had to be placed back in. He is having problems being able to regulate his own body temperature and he gets too cold and then back in he goes. They are going to attempt it again and again until he is able and ready!
He is 65 days old today but is only 35 weeks 6 days gestation...so still early.
He received his two month immunizations last week which is so funny..getting his shots and not even home yet. They have tested his hearing and eyesight. He passed his hearing test with flying colors and has some signs of prematurity in his yes so they will retest in 3 weeks. They have checked his heart and brain too.
His brain scan came back normal and he does have a little heart murmur (PFO) but all of this is normal and should close and heal on its own.
We are so close to being home we can taste it...the house is ready and we will are waiting on him for the perfect time.

Day 38 thru Day 40

We have had a great week!!!!
Carter is really starting to gain weight and now has been off of oxygen for 4 days!
HUGE progress.
Dr. Biscera came in yesterday (Wednesday) to take a peak in on you and she was very pleased. Some of the other nurses in Level 3 came to also peak in on you and see how big you were getting. Kevin is going to be so surprised when he comes in from work to see your size.
As of today, he is weighing in at 3lbz 5.8 oz!!! Chad the night nurse was so shocked that he weighed him three times because he was sure the scale was wrong..i guess not.
Kids are going to Natchitoches for the weekend and we are getting a new air conditioner so to say the least I am spending all weekend with my "little" man:)

Day 37

No more oxygen tubes....WOOOHOO!
Carter had his nasal cannula removed today so he has one less wire to worry about getting tangled. You can finally see his cute little nose...so cute!
He was having a good day today so far...had a couple of episodes but brought them right back up all by himself..he is such a good boy.
I will call this evening to see how the rest of his day was.

Day 32 thru Day 36

We love our new pod (step down from critical unit). We call it Pod B. But, we miss our Level 3 nurses terribly..amazing how close we get to the ones caring for your loved ones.
He continues to do well...they took him off of his continous feeds on Friday and started on 17 ml every 3 hours. As of today, Sunday, he is on 26 ml every 3 hours and is handeling it very well. This is the maximum amount of milk for his weight so as his weight changes so will the amout.
2lbs 15 oz as of Saturday night...might be 3 lbs today...WOOHOO!
The nurse practioner told his today in the orders that they want Carter to start exploring when I hold him so we are starting to prepare his to nurse which I think might happen in a couple of weeks.
Thank you for your prayers and please continue..we still have a ways to go before we have him home.

So excited...we will miss our Level 3 nurses...we love them!:)
Can't wait tomorrow to see his new room and to meet our new nurses:D
He will be here until we go home...closer to the door closer to home!
He needs to grow much more before that can happen..we will wait..we are patient!
